2010 Progress and A Small Gift
I returned from the first of two holiday trips to see relatives last week after Southwest Airlines made a heroic effort to get my family home. Because of the multiple stops to get from Chicago to San Jose, I had time to think about the year we’ve had and offer a small thank you gift to you for your interest in what we do.
Here are some of the accomplishments in the past year:
- Raised significant funding for public television and NPR with multiple shows and pledge gifts.
- Initiated a program with The Hartford to improve their AARP customers’ experience and driving safety. Additional data received from the Allstate pilot program in Pennsylvania showing improvement in claims. The launch of a wellness program with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to reach their tens of thousands of customers.
- Launch of Brain Odyssey, our new travel-mystery themed social brain game, with support from Expedia and the AARP Travel Channel.
- Publication of many new findings on the benefits of putting your brain through its paces. Several notable studies included the JAGS publication of Dr. Karlene Ball’s finding that at-fault crash risk was reduced by 50% for older drivers when trained with Posit Science’s useful field of view technology and the significant improvement in visual working memory from playing Sweep Seeker found by Dr. Adam Gazzaley’s UCSF laband published in PLoSOne.
- The award of a $3.65M NIH grant to Brain Plasticity Inc. to commercialize our platform in cognitive impairment in schizophrenia.
That’s a lot of good stuff for consumers, great progress by the research team and broader neuroscience community, and growth in the business.
To celebrate this progress and in the spirit of the holiday season, we’d like to offer you a new game to play for free that our team developed called “Working Circles“. Please let us know what you think.

Great fun game! 2 suggestions: love the music in the background, but can we get different songs. Having the same one play over and over increases my anxiety level – maybe that’s the idea??
2nd suggestion: something off with the clicks. Sometimes on the 2nd click the spot turns over too quickly to really set it. Sometimes it does not. I feel like I got cheated out of a couple of clicks because of this.
